Amazing Meatloaf

This is a simple recipe that takes about 15 minutes to assemble and an 1 hour and 15 minutes to cook. It seems like a long time but trust me its worth it.
Ingredients
1/2 green pepper (medium size)
1/2 white onion (medium size)
2 eggs
1/4 milk (I use skim but anything is fine)
2 cups Seasoned Bread crumbs (I don’t like crackers they’re to big)
1 1/2 lbs Laura’s Lean ground beef (ground turkey can be used)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp A1 Steak sauce
1 tbsp basil
1/4 Brown sugar
1/2 to 1 cup Ketchup
Dishware needed
9×9 pan
Aluminum foil
Medium size mixing bowl
Small bowl (for topping)
Knife (for chopping veggies)
Cutting Board
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 (if you used turkey) and 375 (if you used beef).
- In mixing bowl combine eggs, black pepper, basil, milk, A1 and Worcestershire sauce. Quickly mix contents with spoon so the egg yolks are thoroughly mixed with other ingredients. Set bowl aside.
- Dice green pepper and onion. The pieces should be fairly small. If the pieces are too big the meat loaf will fall apart. Place chopped pepper and onion in bowl with ingredients from step one.
- Break ground beef and into 2 inch chunks and place in mixing bowl. Mix with original ingredients until the meat has absorbed most of the liquid.
- Fold in the 2 cups of bread crumbs a little at a time. Use hands to mix. Continue this until the meat is only a little sticky and isn’t crumbling a part. If its not sticking together then add a little bit more milk. If its too sticky add more bread crumbs.
- Line pan with aluminum foil. This makes it easier to remove after the meat loaf is done cooking.
- Shape meat into a loaf and place on aluminum foil.
- Bake for 1 hour.
- While meat is baking, take small bowl and combine brown sugar and ketchup.
- Stir until brown sugar is completely mixed in with the ketchup.
- Place in fridge while meat loaf bakes. - After 1 hour remove meat loaf and spread ketchup mixture over the top.
- Put back in the oven for 15 minutes.
After its done cooking let it sit for about 10 minutes. If you cut it right away it will fall apart. Enjoy.
